Community Partner Program for Small Businesses

The Alafia Community Partner Program was created to connect local businesses with meaningful, visible, and structured global health impact.

We believe that small businesses are the foundation of strong communities. Through this program, businesses directly support life-saving maternal health and community development work in Togo while also receiving local recognition as partners in global impact.

This program is designed to be simple, transparent, and rooted in real outcomes. Each partnership contributes directly to strengthening health systems, education access, and community well-being in rural areas of Togo.

What Your Support Funds

Your contribution directly supports community-based programs in rural Togo, including:

Glasses Distribution Program

Alafia International partners with Global Vision 2020 to improve access to vision care for children in rural Togo. Through this program, students are screened for vision challenges and provided with corrective glasses using the USee Vision Kit™. Local teachers and community health workers are trained to conduct screenings and distribute glasses directly in schools and communities. This program helps children who previously struggled with reading, writing, or seeing classroom materials to fully participate in their education, improving both learning outcomes and long-term academic opportunity.

Babade Learning Center

The Babade Learning Center is a community-based educational space located in the Centrale Region of Togo. It provides students and community members with access to books, learning materials, and educational resources in a safe and supportive environment. Originally developed as a Peace Corps Community Partnership grant, the center has been renovated and strengthened by Alafia to serve as a long-term educational resource. It supports literacy development, encourages independent learning, and expands access to educational opportunities that are limited in rural communities.

Koukoude Community Garden

The Koukoude Community Garden is a locally managed agricultural initiative that supports food security and improved nutrition within the community. The garden includes vegetable plots and fruit trees maintained by local community members. It was originally established through a Peace Corps Community Partnership grant and includes a borehole that provides reliable access to clean water to water the plants. This project enables families to grow nutritious food locally, reducing both cost and distance barriers to accessing healthy food. Alafia continues to support the garden through tools, seeds, and long-term sustainability efforts, with the goal of expanding community agriculture initiatives across the region.

Respectful Care Practices and Childbirth Training

Through its partnership with AFAD in Togo, Alafia International supports training programs focused on respectful maternity care and childbirth practices in rural health facilities. This program strengthens the skills of healthcare providers to improve the quality, dignity, and safety of care provided to women during pregnancy, labor, and delivery. Training includes practices such as respectful patient care, informed decision-making, companion-supported delivery, use of alternative birthing positions, sanitation and infection prevention, and improved newborn care immediately after birth. Health facilities are also supported with practical maternity equipment to help implement these practices in real clinical settings. This program improves maternal and newborn health outcomes while ensuring that women receive respectful, dignified care during childbirth.
